Databricks AI Chief Departs

Naveen Rao, the AI head at Databricks, is leaving to start a new computer company. Rao's venture will focus on creating a novel computer architecture. Rao previously founded MosaicML, which Databricks acquired for $1.3 billion. Before MosaicML, Rao led Nervana Systems, an AI chip company acquired by Intel. At Intel, he spearheaded the company's AI initiatives. Rao's expertise includes neuromorphic circuits and deep learning. His career reflects a commitment to advancing machine intelligence. The new company aims to address rising AI costs with its innovative design. Rao holds a PhD in Computational Neuroscience from Brown University.
