Cohere has announced the wider availability of its agentic AI platform, North, initially launched in limited access in January. North is designed to automate repetitive workplace tasks, such as report generation and document summarisation, freeing up employees for more creative work. The platform allows users to create custom AI agents through text prompts, connecting to popular workplace tools like Google Drive, Slack, and Salesforce.
North targets security-conscious enterprises, offering private deployment options and compliance with international security standards. Early clients include Royal Bank of Canada, LG CNS, Dell Technologies and Bell. The platform provides tools for chat, search and document creation, competing with offerings like Microsoft's 365 Copilot and OpenAI's ChatGPT Enterprise. Cohere aims to help businesses see a return on their AI investments by augmenting and automating a portion of employee's work.
North is powered by large language models (LLMs) and allows access to existing data and workspaces. It can be deployed on-premises, in hybrid clouds, or in air-gapped environments. The platform incorporates security measures, including access controls and security assessments. Cohere's North generates revenue through subscription fees tied to the number of users.
