OpenAI's open-weight models, gpt-oss-120b and gpt-oss-20b, are now available on Amazon Web Services (AWS) via Amazon Bedrock and Amazon SageMaker AI. This marks the first time OpenAI models have been directly accessible through AWS, offering customers streamlined access to build and deploy generative AI applications.
The integration provides AWS customers access to powerful AI technologies, with the larger gpt-oss-120b model offering enhanced reasoning capabilities suitable for agentic workflows, coding, scientific analysis and complex problem-solving. According to Amazon, the gpt-oss-120b model delivers up to 3x better price-performance than comparable models. OpenAI's models are integrated with Amazon Bedrock's Guardrails, blocking up to 88% of harmful content.
By offering OpenAI's models, AWS expands its selection and provides customers with open-weight models, shaping the future of GenAI technology. This move enhances AWS's competitive position in the cloud AI market, providing a comprehensive suite of tools for building and deploying generative AI applications.
