Google Photos is introducing a new 'ask to edit' feature, enabling users to edit photos using voice or text commands. This conversational editing capability, powered by Gemini, allows users to describe desired changes, such as removing background elements or restoring old photos, without manually adjusting settings. Users can make multiple requests in a single prompt, like removing reflections and fixing washed-out colours, or start with a general instruction like 'make it better'.
Follow-up instructions can be added to fine-tune images after each edit. The feature will first be available on Pixel 10 devices in the U.S. This builds upon existing editing functionality, offering a more intuitive way to enhance images.
Pixel 10 devices will also implement the C2PA Content Credentials standard in its Camera app, and across photos created by Pixel Camera, with and without AI. This will roll out to Google Photos on Android and iPhone in the coming weeks.
