Vantage Data Centers is investing over $25 billion to construct a 1.4GW data centre campus in Shackelford County, Texas, named 'Frontier'. This mega-scale project, driven by the increasing demand for AI infrastructure, will span 1,200 acres and feature 10 data centres, totalling 3.7 million square feet. The campus will support ultra-high-density racks exceeding 250kW and employ liquid cooling to handle next-generation GPU loads.
Construction is underway, with the first building expected to be completed in the second half of 2026. The facility will employ a closed-loop chiller system to minimise water usage and is pursuing LEED certification. The project is expected to generate over 5,000 jobs during construction and ongoing operations.
The 'Frontier' campus aims to meet the evolving demands of AI deployments and establish Texas as a crucial hub for AI providers. This investment signifies a substantial economic boost for the region, providing the necessary digital infrastructure for AI applications.
