Meta is reportedly planning its fourth reorganisation of AI operations within six months. The company's Superintelligence Labs unit is expected to be divided into four groups: a 'TBD Lab' for the Llama model, a products team focusing on the Meta AI assistant, an infrastructure team, and the Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) lab for long-term research.
This restructuring follows CEO Mark Zuckerberg's push to accelerate work on artificial general intelligence (AGI) and generate new revenue streams. Meta has invested heavily in AI, including a $29 billion financing for data centre expansion and an increased capital expenditure forecast. The company has also been actively recruiting AI talent. The latest reorganisation aims to address execution gaps and improve product delivery.
