OpenAI anticipates spending trillions on infrastructure to support its AI development. CEO Sam Altman stated that the company is exploring funding solutions for this massive outlay, potentially involving new financial instruments tailored for the compute sector. This investment exceeds the scale of the $500 billion Project Stargate with SoftBank and Oracle.
Altman acknowledged that such extensive spending might draw criticism but emphasised the necessity for OpenAI to pursue its vision. The company requires significant GPU resources to maintain scalability and introduce new products. He also confirmed OpenAI's interest in brain-computer interfaces, signalling a move into consumer hardware and social media.
While hinting at a possible future IPO, Altman did not provide a specific timeline. He addressed user concerns regarding the GPT-5 rollout and assured ongoing improvements based on feedback. The company is also open to acquiring Google's Chrome browser if required by regulators.
