Ambience Healthcare, an AI startup focused on automating administrative tasks for medical professionals, has secured $243 million in Series C funding, valuing the company at over $1 billion. The funding round was co-led by Oak HC/FT and Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from existing investors, including OpenAI's startup fund.
Founded in 2020, Ambience Healthcare offers AI tools that automate clinical conversations, prepare chart summaries, generate documentation, and simplify medical billing. The company's platform integrates directly into existing Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and supports over 100 specialities. Ambience intends to use the capital to expand its AI platform to more hospitals and clinics. The company also aims to grow beyond its current workforce of 180 employees.
Ambience's platform is powered by proprietary AI reasoning models and is designed to handle the regulatory, clinical, and operational demands of healthcare. The company's AI model has demonstrated a 27% improvement in medical coding accuracy compared to board-certified physicians. Ambience Healthcare currently partners with major healthcare providers, including Cleveland Clinic, Houston Methodist, and St. Luke's Health System.
