BBC News has appointed Anjali Kapoor, formerly a Director at Meta, as its new Director of AI, Innovation and Growth. Kapoor will spearhead the organisation's adoption of artificial intelligence and data-driven strategies.
Kapoor's role involves enhancing journalism through AI, expanding audience reach, and engaging younger demographics. Her experience includes leadership positions at The Globe and Mail, Yahoo!, and Bloomberg Media. She will focus on responsible AI adoption and impactful storytelling in the evolving digital landscape.
Deborah Turness, CEO of BBC News, emphasised the importance of this role in transforming BBC News for the future. Kapoor aims to build on the BBC's legacy of public service journalism while driving innovation and ensuring the relevance of BBC journalism.
