Amazon Reaches Robotics Milestone

Amazon Reaches Robotics Milestone

1 July 2025

Amazon has deployed its one millionth robot and launched a new generative AI model named DeepFleet. The milestone robot was delivered to a fulfilment centre in Japan, joining a global network spanning over 300 facilities.

DeepFleet, built using Amazon's inventory data and AWS tools like SageMaker, will coordinate robot movements to optimise navigation within fulfilment centres. This should reduce congestion, create more efficient paths, and accelerate order processing. Amazon expects DeepFleet to improve the robotic fleet's travel time by 10%, enabling faster and cheaper deliveries.

Amazon's robotics journey began in 2012 with the acquisition of Kiva Systems. The company now operates a diverse fleet, including Hercules, which can lift up to 1,250 pounds, and Titan, which can carry up to 2,500 pounds. Amazon has also upskilled over 700,000 employees since 2019 through technical training programmes.
