Meta is reportedly in discussions with private credit firms, including Apollo, Brookfield, and Pimco, to secure $29 billion in funding. This capital injection aims to support the development of AI data centres. Meta's increased focus on AI infrastructure is driven by the growing demand for computational power required by AI systems.
The company has committed to significant spending on AI development, with capital expenditure forecasts reaching up to $72 billion. This includes building new data centres, such as the planned $10 billion AI hub in Louisiana. Meta anticipates bringing 1 GW of computing power online in 2025 to support its AI ambitions, with plans to operate over 1.3 million GPUs by the end of the year. The expansion is also intended to support the deployment of Meta AI to over 1 billion users and establish its Llama 4 model.
