Lambda and Microsoft have forged a multibillion-dollar agreement to bolster AI infrastructure. Lambda will deploy tens of thousands of NVIDIA GPUs, including the GB300 NVL72 systems. This collaboration aims to significantly expand cloud-based accelerated computing resources.
This strategic, multi-year deployment highlights the increasing global demand for high-performance computing, fuelled by the widespread adoption of AI assistants. Lambda's CEO, Stephen Balaban, noted the partnership marks a phenomenal step in their eight-year relationship with Microsoft.
Lambda is also planning a 100MW AI factory in Kansas City by 2026 to meet the growing demand, enough to train the largest AI models. This deal follows Microsoft's recent $9.7 billion agreement with Australian data centre firm IREN.
