Autonomous weapon systems (AWS), once activated, can independently conduct military operations without human intervention. However, the rise of autonomous weapons also raises concerns about a potential loss of control and accidental conflict escalation. While the U.S. military does not prohibit the development or employment of LAWS, there is ongoing debate regarding the ethical and legal implications of these weapons. Despite the concerns, AI offers numerous benefits to military divisions worldwide. AI-powered systems can process large amounts of data quickly, providing soldiers with real-time information for informed decisions. Furthermore, AI can reduce risks for soldiers by reducing human labor and improving the efficiency of military operations.
