Canva Unveils AI Design Model

Canva Unveils AI Design Model

30 October 2025

Canva has launched its own foundational AI design model, a first for the company, that generates editable, layered designs instead of flat images. This allows users to modify specific elements within AI-generated images using Canva's existing editing tools. The company has also made its Affinity design suite permanently free, directly challenging Adobe's subscription model.

Alongside the new AI model, Canva has introduced several new features, including Forms for data collection and email design templates. The company's AI assistant has been expanded, and the Canva Grow marketing platform has launched, integrating the MagicBrief acquisition for full-stack AI creation and analytics. The updated Visual Suite includes Video 2.0, offering professional-level editing tools with a layered timeline for text, effects, and audio.

These updates aim to provide a fully integrated, AI-first design ecosystem, bridging the gap between AI efficiency and human creativity. The new AI features are also integrated into platforms like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.
