Nvidia and Deutsche Telekom are collaborating on a €1 billion data centre project in Germany, aimed at bolstering Europe's AI infrastructure. Both companies will contribute to the project's funding. SAP is slated to be an early customer of the facility. The official announcement is expected next month in Berlin, with key figures from Nvidia, Deutsche Telekom, SAP, and the German government participating.
The data centre, planned for Munich, will utilise approximately 10,000 advanced Nvidia GPUs. This initiative is part of a broader European effort to reduce reliance on US and Chinese AI technology. While smaller than some US-based projects, this data centre marks a significant step towards AI independence for Europe and could spur further regional investment.
The new facility aims to expand Europe's computing capabilities, addressing concerns about falling behind in the global AI race. Deutsche Telekom's American depositary receipts saw a rise following the news of this partnership.
