AI video startup Runway has secured $308 million in a funding round led by General Atlantic, elevating its valuation to over $3 billion. The New York-based company plans to use the capital to advance its AI-driven media innovations, focusing on AI film and animation through the development of world simulators—AI systems that model environments and predict future events. The round also attracted investments from SoftBank, Nvidia, Fidelity Management & Research Company, and Baillie Gifford. Runway's technology enables users to generate videos using text prompts and images. Last September, the company partnered with Lionsgate to create a customised AI video generation model aimed at enhancing creative workflows for filmmakers and artists.
