What happened
Forterra, a US autonomous vehicle developer, deployed over 100 Lancer ATVs in Ukrainian conflict zones over the past nine months. While capable of autonomous navigation, Ukrainian soldiers mainly teleoperate these vehicles in combat zones. This marks what the company believes is the largest combat deployment of autonomous ground vehicles by a US defence technology firm. Since October 2025, these gas-powered ATVs completed over 1,100 missions, covering 2,500 miles, carrying 777,440 pounds of cargo, and performing 52 casualty evacuations.
