OpenAI is developing an AI-powered job platform set to launch by mid-2026, directly competing with LinkedIn. The platform aims to connect businesses with suitable talent and assist job seekers in finding appropriate roles. OpenAI's CEO of Applications, Fidji Simo, stated that the platform will leverage AI to match company needs with worker capabilities, also benefitting small businesses and local institutions by providing access to AI talent.
In conjunction with the job platform, OpenAI will integrate certifications through its OpenAI Academy, offering credentials ranging from basic AI literacy to advanced prompt engineering. OpenAI has pledged to certify 10 million Americans by 2030, partnering with organisations like Walmart to roll out workforce training programmes. The platform will offer end-to-end learning paths, allowing users to prepare for certification using ChatGPT's study mode.
Sam Altman has indicated that the Jobs Platform is one of several upcoming consumer-facing products, highlighting OpenAI's ambition to expand beyond ChatGPT and reshape professional life. The initiative seeks to address concerns about AI-driven job displacement by upskilling workers and connecting them with AI-related opportunities.
