Bengaluru is set to establish India's first AI-powered city, the Greater Bengaluru Innovation and Tech City (GBIT), in Bidadi. This ambitious project aims to transform approximately 9,000 acres into a modern, integrated township. Designed around a 'work-live-play' model, GBIT will serve as Bengaluru's second central business district, allocating over 2,000 acres to AI-based industries and support units.
The city will feature a 300-metre-wide business corridor connecting key highways to ensure seamless connectivity. GBIT aims for sustainability with a zero-carbon, zero-waste, and zero-traffic model, incorporating clean energy, advanced public transport, and digital twin technology for efficient management of resources. The project is expected to attract global investors and generate numerous jobs in IT, AI, and service sectors, prioritising local employment through skill development centres.
GBIT also focuses on decongesting Bengaluru by shifting economic activities to Bidadi, offering modern infrastructure and green spaces. Over 1,100 acres are designated for parks and open spaces, promoting a green urban environment. The development incorporates residential zones with essential amenities like schools and hospitals, alongside leisure facilities such as sports infrastructure and cultural venues.
