Opera has released Neon, a subscription-based AI browser designed to streamline web tasks and app development. Neon integrates 'Tasks,' self-contained workspaces that use AI to analyse and act across multiple sources. The browser also features 'Cards,' which are reusable prompts for repetitive actions, customisable by the user or sourced from the community.
Neon's AI can write code snippets and manage complex projects, operating locally to prioritise user empowerment and privacy. Unlike other AI agents, Neon understands webpages through the DOM tree and layout data, enabling it to interpret entire pages at once without needing to scroll. The 'Neon Do' feature allows the AI to perform actions such as opening and closing tabs, navigating the web, filling out forms and gathering data.
Opera Neon aims to bridge the gap between AI chatbots and automation platforms, offering a cohesive experience for users. It supports concurrent operation of multiple AI agents, each managing different tasks such as tab management, content generation and online research. The browser is now accessible to early adopters via a waitlist.
