YouTube is launching a suite of generative AI tools aimed at both creators and viewers, leveraging Google DeepMind's Veo 3 model. These tools, designed to enhance creativity and streamline content creation, include AI-powered video editing, automatic effects generation, and music syncing. Veo 3 Fast, integrated into YouTube Shorts, allows users to generate video clips with sound from text prompts.
New features enable creators to add motion to photos, stylise videos, and insert objects using text descriptions. A speech-to-song tool transforms dialogue into soundtracks, while an AI-powered editing tool arranges raw footage into coherent drafts with music, transitions, and voiceovers. YouTube is also implementing measures to identify AI-generated content, using SynthID watermarks and content labels.
These tools are rolling out in select countries, including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. YouTube's CEO, Neal Mohan, emphasises AI's role in empowering human creativity. The platform is also introducing features to facilitate brand collaborations, such as flexible sponsorship formats and direct links to brand sites.
