Destinus, a drone manufacturer known for supplying drones to Ukraine, intends to acquire Daedalean, a Swiss company specialising in AI-powered autopilot systems for aviation. The acquisition is valued at 180 million Swiss francs, approximately $223 million, and will be a combination of cash and stock.

Daedalean focuses on creating AI for autonomous flight, specifically systems for in-flight decision-making using computer vision. Their technology operates at a higher level than traditional autopilots, aiming to replicate the capabilities of a human pilot. Daedalean's systems are designed for use in conventional aircraft, helicopters, and electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicles. Destinus develops drones for both military and civilian applications. Their projects include hypersonic drones capable of autonomous and lethal firing decisions. Destinus also has plans for a hydrogen-powered drone designed to intercept hypersonic missiles.

The acquisition will allow Destinus to integrate Daedalean's AI-driven autopilot systems into its drones, enhancing their autonomous capabilities. This move aligns with the increasing demand for autonomous UAV solutions in both military and civilian sectors.
