B.Grimm Power Pcl, a Thai power producer, and Digital Edge DC are set to invest approximately $1 billion in a new data centre located in Thailand. This joint venture aims to capitalise on the increasing demand for AI, cloud computing, and other digital services across Southeast Asia. The initial phase involves constructing a 100-megawatt data centre, targeting hyperscale clients with commercial operations expected to commence in 2026. The facility will be located in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) in Chonburi province. This strategic move aligns with B.Grimm's digital business strategy, enhancing its presence in the rapidly expanding global data centre market.
Thailand's data centre market is experiencing substantial growth, driven by increasing digital transformation and investments from tech giants. The country's data centre services market is projected to grow, fuelled by the finance, wholesale, retail, and healthcare sectors. The Thai government is actively supporting this expansion with incentives and policies aimed at establishing Thailand as a regional digital hub. Digital Edge is committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2030, integrating renewable energy and environmentally friendly technologies across its portfolio.
