Amazon's Kindle Translate Launches

7 November 2025

Amazon has launched Kindle Translate, an AI-powered service designed to translate books for authors using Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP). Currently in beta, the service supports translations between English and Spanish, and from German to English. Amazon plans to incorporate more languages in the future.

Kindle Translate aims to broaden the reach of self-published authors, addressing the fact that less than 5% of books on Amazon are available in multiple languages. The tool allows authors to expand their audience without needing to translate texts themselves or use external resources. Authors can preview translations before publication, and Amazon evaluates translations for accuracy automatically. Translated books will be labelled clearly and can be added to programmes such as KDP Select and Kindle Unlimited.

This represents a move by Amazon to strengthen author loyalty to its publishing platform and capture the global e-book market. By removing the cost barrier to international distribution, Amazon is creating a new revenue stream for authors and expanding its content library.

AI generated content may differ from the original.
