Apple is set to launch a feature that will allow US users to add a digital version of their passport to Apple Wallet. This will enable users to present their digital ID at select TSA checkpoints for domestic travel. The passport integration addresses headaches caused by Real ID enforcement.
The digital passport IDs will not replace physical passports for international travel. The feature is secure, private and compliant with Real ID. Apple Pay is now accepted by 90% of US retailers, a significant increase from 3% at launch 11 years ago.
Other Apple Wallet features include car keys, transit passes and hotel keys. Apple Pay is available in 89 countries and regions, supported by over 11,000 banks and networks. Tap to Pay on iPhone is live in 48 countries and regions.
